Migrating to the New Customer Portal

The new Customer Portal is now available and can be rolled out gradually, allowing you to test and introduce it to your customers at your own pace.

This article explains how migration works and what should be considered before going live.

How migration works

The new Customer Portal is not automatically enabled for your customers. Instead, you have control over when and how customers are moved to the new environment.

A transition period of approximately three months is planned to give partners sufficient time for communication.

Step 1: Check it out yourself

Before introducing the new Customer Portal to your customers, we recommend taking some time to explore the new environment yourself.

The easiest way to do this is by creating a separate test branding.

  • Go to Branding
  • Click Add Branding in the top-right corner.
  • Create a new branding and configure a unique Customer Portal URL Prefix, for example: yourbrandtest
  • Enable the New Customer Portal toggle for this branding
  • Assign a test customer to the newly created branding
  • Use the Login As button to access the new Customer Portal directly:

This approach allows you to:

  • Familiarize yourself with the new interface
  • Test the available functionality
  • Prepare customer communication
  • Validate your branding and configuration before rollout

Step 2: Enable the New Customer Portal

Once you're ready, navigate to: Settings → Branding

Open the branding you would like to use and enable the New Customer Portal toggle.

Customers accessing the URL associated with that branding will automatically be directed to the new Customer Portal.

Important: Access is determined by URL Prefix

Access to the new Customer Portal is determined by the configured URL prefix. Enabling the New Customer Portal toggle alone does not automatically move customers to the new environment.

Customers will only access the new Customer Portal when using the URL associated with a branding where the new portal has been enabled.

Example:

If your Customer Portal URL is: testing.obd.help and the New Customer Portal toggle is enabled for that branding, customers accessing testing.obd.help will enter the new Customer Portal.

Transition period

During the transition period, both the existing and new Customer Portal can be used alongside each other. After the transition period, and assuming everything performs as expected, the new Customer Portal will become the default experience for all users.
