Is it possible for unauthorized users to gain access to the workshop or partners network through the Jifeline infrastructure?

No. The communication between the Customer Portal and the Jifeline Business Server is secured using SSL/TLS encryption, the industry‑standard protocol for protecting web traffic. This ensures that the workshop or partner network cannot be accessed through this connection.

The J‑ReX VCI device connects to the workshop network using the WPA2 Wi‑Fi security standard, one of the most widely adopted and secure wireless protocols. For environments requiring an additional layer of protection, the J‑ReX VCI can also be connected via a wired LAN cable, eliminating wireless exposure.

The network used for the J-rex VCI (and the OBD-2 Local) only uses outbound connections on a single port to a set of reserved public IP addresses. Whitelisting can be used to minimize network exposure.

All traffic is encrypted in transit. For more information about encryption, see this article What methods are used to encrypt data at rest and in transit?
